Amberley Road was previously an unused, overgrown area of land that Aqua Construction has developed into affordable, new build properties for Gloucester City Homes. This site is one of a number around Gloucester forming a wider regeneration programme for the local area. Overall there will be 42 affordable houses built on wasteland which will help to enhance the environment and create a noticeable difference in an area which has lacked in development activity for some time. Through good design and high build quality, these sites will be able to create a noticeable change within the community.
The redevelopment of these sites will help to alleviate the growing housing need, through maximising the sites’ potential and developing under-utilised areas across Gloucester for affordable homes.
The old site was cleared and excavated in order to make room for the new development, consisting of:
- 3 x two-bedroom houses
- Spacious kitchen-diner areas
- Parking facilities
Work on the development started in July 2017 and was completed on time and handed over to Gloucester City Homes in January 2018.
The Amberley Road development was shortlisted as a finalist in the LABC West of England Awards 2019, in the following categories: Best Social or Affordable New Housing Development and Best New Housing Development.
