Badminton Road is one of our developments in contract with Gloucester City Homes. Utilising the former redundant wasteland of a derelict garage site in Matson, Gloucester, previously used for fly tipping, three new high-quality and accessible homes have been created. These innovative bungalows were developed under flagship shared-ownership schemes, as the first rent-to-buy homes delivered by Gloucester City Homes. This is part of Aqua’s phase 2 programme with GCH to provide Gloucester with the much needed affordable housing.
All the bungalows were designed to be energy efficient, through the use of low energy lighting and high-efficiency boilers. The use of these aimed to assist the new residents with day-to-day running costs.
Development commenced on site in Spring 2017 and was completed and handed over to Gloucester City Homes in October 2017.
Ashley Green, Chief Executive at Gloucester City Homes commented, ‘This is a fantastic opportunity for local people to get onto the property ladder, and the launch of these new homes ensures that GCH provides a range of accommodation to support our tenants and prospective homeowners. I am also delighted to see a disused garage site, prone to anti-social behaviour, being used for new homes, which is great news for our new residents and those living in the area.’
Badminton Road was shorted listed as a finalist in the LABC Awards 2018. It received a finalist spot in Best small new housing development and Best social or affordable new housing development.
